Crosswinds seeks English language poetry in all styles. Using Submittable, submit poems as word documents.
Please submit a brief biography of not more than 100 words with your cover letter on the submittable platform.
Please use 12-point Times New Roman font. Poems exceeding 60 single-spaced lines, will not be considered (includes stanza breaks, spaces between poem titles and the poem’s opening line).
We strongly prefer word docs, but should you submit in PDF, please do so with a word conversion friendly version.
Please do not put any identifying information on the poems themselves – only in the submittable form. Any poem with identifying information on the poem itself will not be considered.
Poems exceeding our allowed maximum of 66 characters per-line will not be considered. (character count includes spaces and punctuation).
Reading fees are $20 for each submission of up to three poems.
Two submissions of up to three poems are allowed but require two separate reading fees.
Please do not send more than three poems in each of the two allowed submissions, as we will only read the first three. We will not refund reading fees for additional submissions beyond the allowable. Poets warrant that all work submitted by them to Crosswinds are original works that have not been accepted or published elsewhere.
Generally reports in 3-4 months. Previously published works and works forthcoming elsewhere won’t be considered. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please notify us promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. There are no refunds of reading fees should your work be accepted elsewhere.
Winning poets agree to allow Crosswinds archival rights to post their winning poem on the Crosswinds website for the benefit of our readers and supporters. All other rights revert to the poet upon publication.
We strongly discourage postal submissions, but will consider them in unusual situations. Please contact us.
